A morning offering ~ John O’Donohue

with one comment

Another inspiring poem brought to me by Panhala. I am posting it for you and for me. This blog has become a kind of road map. When I am feeling like I’ve lost my way or tempted by the easy road, I come here and find my true path. This poem was delivered to my mailbox on the same day that I finally posted my dreams. I felt Someone was saying “These are not lofty ideas, they are your dreams and you are worthy of them!”
A Morning Offering
I bless the night that nourished my heart
To set the ghosts of longing free
Into the flow and figure of dream
That went to harvest from the dark
Bread for the hunger no one sees.
All that is eternal in me
Welcome the wonder of this day,
The field of brightness it creates
Offering time for each thing
To arise and illuminate.
I place on the altar of dawn:
The quiet loyalty of breath,
The tent of thought where I shelter,
Wave of desire I am shore to
And all beauty drawn to the eye.
May my mind come alive today
To the invisible geography
That invites me to new frontiers,
To break the dead shell of yesterdays,
To risk being disturbed and changed.
May I have the courage today
To live the life that I would love,
To postpone my dream no longer
But do at last what I came here for
And waste my heart on fear no more.

Working mom trying to fit it all in!

with 7 comments

I don’t think it much matters whether you are a stay at home mom or one who works outside of the home, there is still way to much to fit into one day! Here is my list of what I want to do and what I have to do in one  day. How to exactly to do it is the question!

  • 20 minutes for yoga
  • 1 hour for writing(blogging)
  • 1 hour for reading other blogs
  • 1 hour for running (that includes changing, putting shoes on, getting ipod, running, taking shoes, showering, and changing
  • 1 hour for crafts and/or playing with Real Girl
  • 1 hour for eating dinner with my family
  • a half hour for reading stories before bed

Now for the “have to” stuff:

  • 1 hour to shower and get dressed
  • 1 hour to get Real Girl ready for preschool/daycare(including breakfast and making lunch)
  • 8 hours at work
  • 1 hour for traveling(to daycare, to work, to daycare and to home)
  • 1 hour for making dinner
  • 1 hour for cleaning(laundry, dishes, bathtime)

So that’s 19 hours. All I need to do is get up at 4am and go to bed at 1am.  No problem! How do you fit it all in? I would really like to know!!
